III. Creating term records

LogiTerm allows you to create term records by following various methods. Therefore, make sure that you choose the method that suits best to your project. (See Note 1.)

Method 1 – Creating term records in Microsoft Word

This method will be useful if you want to create a new term record model.

Method 2 – Creating term records based on a term extraction

This method will be useful if you work based on a term extraction done in LogiTerm (to learn more about terminology extraction, consult the LogiTerm Term Extraction Tutorial, Level I).

Method 3 – Creating term records from a bitext

This method will be useful if you work from a LogiTerm bitext (to learn more about terminology extraction and bitext creation, consult the LogiTerm Bilingual Concordancer Tutorial, Level I).

Method 4 – Creating term records based on search results

This method will be more useful to you when you query bitexts since it allows you to create term records based on search results generated from the Bitext in LogiTerm. We recommend that you first complete the exercises in the tutorial titled LogiTerm Bilingual Concordancer Tutorial, Level I. In this tutorial, you can index the bitext you need to create term records following this method.

Method 5 – Creating term records based on a table

LogiTerm allows you also to create terminology records based on tables created in other software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, FileMaker, etc.).

Notes

  1. Regardless of the method followed in term record creation, text entered in term record fields must respect the LogiTerm format. To learn more about this format, consult the LogiTerm help files (Help > Main menu > Index > Record rules).
